Local Milkman Delivers New Indoor Golf Training Center to Atlantic Canada

Like most people Matt Jeffrey wanted a job he could be passionate about, and delivering milk wasn’t fulfilling his desire.

The milkman spent most of his days dreaming of the golf course, wasting away the winter months waiting for the courses to re-open and to get a driver into his hands.

The love of golf guided him to investigate Parmasters, a Vancouver-based franchise building amazing indoor golf training centres.

“I went to a Discovery Day two years ago to see if Parmasters was a fit me and if I was a fit for them” Jeffrey said.  And the rest is history. In fact he was so impressed that he ended up buying the rights to all of Atlantic Canada.

Set to open his first site this winter in Dartmouth, “the ultimate golf training and practice facility” offers a climate-controlled, golfers haven.  Members will enjoy specialized long-game practice bays, a large 4000 square foot putting surface, so realistic that they can adjust the stimp of the greens, with bunkers, pitching and chipping areas, and more.

Also included in this facility will be automatic ball return practice bays, called Long Game Fluency Bays.

“In the fluency bays, the ball gets automatically teed out of the floor, so you are not bending over to tee the ball up allowing you to focus on your grip and swing tempo” said Jeffrey. “In about seven minutes in the Fluency Bays it’s like 30 minutes at a Driving Range” adds Jeffrey.

The 20,000 square-foot centre will include a pro shop for the mind (called “Kaizen Korner”), a full golf fitness centre with specialized golf specific training focusing on strength, endurance, flexibility and balance, and Atlantic Canada’s first Links Golf Café, a fun place to share drinks and swap tales of golfing glory.

A perk for the business-minded golfers is a corporate meeting room within the Parmasters centre that will be equipped with all the latest high-tech conveniences, including high speed internet access, large LCD monitors, mindmapping software and more.

Corporate clients can also book golf outings that combine meetings, food, and golf activities like a round at Pebble Beach on the simulators.

Parmasters uses a golf training system that guarantees a 25% reduction in handicap, which Jeffrey says will appeal to Halifax’s golf-loving community.

Jeffrey has recently taken possession of their location on Akerley in Dartmouth, near the Bedroom Depot, has begun demolition work, and expects the site to open later this year.

Charter Memberships start at $39 a month, and full details can be seen by attending a fun Preview Meeting held several times a week at the site. For more details call Matt Jeffrey direct at 902-468-5151 or visit their website www.parmastersgolf.com/halifax.

And this won’t be the last Parmasters site in Atlantic Canada says Jeffrey. In fact he just sold the Newfoundland rights to Geoff and Janice Connors in St. John’s, and they’re already working on a site in their home town.

All said, Parmasters claim of “better golf, more fun, guaranteed” looks to have massive positive impact on golfers and those that want to golf across Atlantic Canada.
